ATTACh
The Association for Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children
(ATTACh) is an international coalition of professionals and lay persons
committed to integrating knowledge, talents and resources to promote the
identification of attachment issues and also committed to sharing a variety
of effective interventions and treatments. This site provides detailed
information as to the history, mission, vision and philosophy of ATTACh.
The site includes a set of ethical standards of practice for professionals,
research information, a bibliography, an event and training schedule and
information as to the upcoming annual conference as well as information
regarding past conferences. Funding for the activities of ATTACh is derived
primarily through the annual conference and through membership. Membership
information is available on the site. Membership includes the quarterly

The Attachment Disorder Site
This is an extremely comprehensive and well-organized site owned and maintained
by an international adoptive parent. The site features at least 200 links
to full-text articles pertaining to attachment and adoption. Information
is arranged in topical areas: therapeutic options, parenting techniques,
the effects of childhood trauma, medication, parent feelings in raising
a child with attachment disorder, a child's perspective of life in the
child welfare system, a child's perspective of adoption, international
adoption, nurturing activities, Bi-polar Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome,
Sensory Integration and much more. The site also provides a bibliography
of adult books and a bibliography of children's books. There is an online
email list to join.
The Institute for Attachment and
Child Development
IACD is a not for profit treatment, education and research center committed
to transforming the lives of children with attachment disorder and their
families, and IACD promotes healthy parent/child attachment in all families.
Highlights of this website include FAQ's with answers for parents seeking
to understand attachment disorder and to select a treatment option for
their child; full-text articles from the IACD newsletter on such topics
as subsidy, parenting, research, therapy, etc.; current research as to
the efficacy of attachment therapy and a bibliography of books which may
be purchased through the IACD website.
Eastern European Adoption Coalition, Inc.
This is an adoptive family support organization. The site offers 15 different
mailing lists for families in the process of/have completed an adoption
from Easter Europe. Parents may join a list, which focuses on a specific
country - Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, or a list for single adoptive parents
or parents of children exposed prenatally to drugs and/or alcohol. This
site also offers comprehensive information on how to select an adoption
agency. There is a "Buddy Network" comprised of families who
have identified themselves as either willing to serve as a buddy to someone
in their area or as searching for a buddy. This Buddy Network is limited
to families touched by Eastern European adoption and it is viewed as a
means to facilitate relationships beyond the Internet. Parents may find

over 350 books links to amazon.com for easy ordering.
North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC)
NACAC is committed to meeting the needs of waiting children and their
families who adopt them. NACAC is included on this list as the website
contains a searchable database of almost 900 adoption related support
groups across the U.S. and Canada. NACAC offers thorough information regarding
adoption subsidy including a link to the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services' website on which is found the full-text version of the
federal regulations outlining adoption subsidy. NACAC hosts an annual
comprehensive conference on adoption - information as to past and upcoming
conferences is available on the site. NACAC is also an excellent source
for information on transracial and transcultural adoption.
Attach-China
This is a website devoted to educating parents of children adopted from
China about attachment disorder. The site features two in-depth articles,
which describe attachment disorder and its symptoms. The site also offers
information about Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, and "Holding Time".
A number of adoptive parents have posted the story of their adoption as
a means of support and information to other families. This site includes
links, an adult bibliography and a children's bibliography. Parents are
welcome to join the site's listserv. The Love and Logic Institute, Inc.
Love and logic is a way of working with children that puts parents and
teachers back in control, teaches children to be responsible, and prepares
young people to live lives in the real world with its many choices and
consequences. Love and logic products provide practical techniques and
help adults achieve respectful and healthy relationships with children.
The site features the on-line catalog of Love and Logic products for parents,
teachers and professionals. The site is also replete with articles promoting
the Love and Logic principles in the areas of assisting children to be
responsible, diminishing violence and anger, diminishing arguments, increasing
self-concept, increasing school performance and increasing problem-solving
skills.
Tapestry Books
This bookstore offers more than 300 adult and children's books on adoption,
infertility and parenting adopted children. For children, preteens and
teens topics include understanding adoption, thinking about birthparents,
celebrating differences, and being in foster care. For adults, topics
include international adoption, transracial adoption, before you adopt,
talking about adoption, adopting older children/children with special
needs, attachment, foster parenting, search and reunion, infertility and
adoption issues. The bookstore may be browsed by topic, author or title.
Jewels Among Jewels
This organization offers outreach to those whose lives have been touched
by adoption. For birthparents, adoptive parents and adoptees, the adoption
experience can raise spiritual questions about origin of identity and
deep issues such as shame, guilt and grief. Jewel Among Jewels addresses
these concerns by sharing biblically based information, current research,
literature and life experiences to individuals touched by adoption. The
website offers thought-provoking articles for all members of the adoption
triad. In addition to the website, Jewel Among Jewels has several unique
publications designed to assist adoptees with grief and loss issues, and
the Jewel Among Jewels Adoption News newsletter. Information about purchasing
the publications is on the site.
Pact, An Adoption Alliance
Pact has as its goal for their website to create and maintain the internet's
most comprehensive site addressing issues for transracial and transcultural
adoptive families. The site offers informative articles, many taken from
Pact Press a quarterly magazine addressing issues of race and adoption.
Additionally, Pact has now developed the nation's most comprehensive reference
guide to books on adoption and/or race. In this informed reference guide
to books on adoption, foster care, race and cultural issues, you'll find
information on more than 1,000 titles; each description includes reviews,
"who-should-read'" guides and a brief synopsis.
Rainbow Kids (RK)
Rainbow Kids is an online magazine for parents of children adopted internationally.
Every month you will find new stories, features, process-updates, and
information on adopting children from all over the world. Overall, all
aspects of adoption, including cultural issues, are presented. Be prepared
to spend time on this sight as there is a wealth of interesting information!
Zero to Three
Zero to Three has as its mission promoting the healthy development of
our nation's infants and toddlers by supporting and strengthening families,
communities, and those who work on their behalf. This site contains articles
of interest to parents in the areas of making decisions about daycare,
discipline, enhancing development, etc. There are several articles designed
specifically for fathers. There is also information regarding their conference,
subscribing to the Zero to Three Journal. For those interested in further
reading about child development, there is an on-site bookstore.
